Welcome to my homepage! I am a professor of mathematics and chair of
Mathematical Communication Theory
at
Eindhoven University of Technology,
the Netherlands.
My research interests are in discrete mathematics, with a focus on the applications of combinatorics and algebra
to information and communications technology (ICT). Buzzwords for my research include:
- coding theory: error-correcting codes and their properties;
- network information theory: network coding, adversarial networks;
- combinatorics: poset theory, enumerative combinatorics, and their applications;
- optimization for data storage and recovery;
- quantum error correction;
- code-based (post-quantum) cryptography.
In April 2022 I was appointed on the Complaints Committee for Undesirable Behavior of TU/e.
News!
- I am co-organizing a workshop on the interplay between data communication and combinatorics; see
here.
- PhD student positions available in the framework of the ENCODE consortium; see
here.
Please get in touch with me if you are interested in doing a PhD in coding theory at TU/e.
